Repairing Sidewalks.
Building Community.
Art You Can Walk On.

We are neighbors in Beverly Grove fixing the sidewalks tree roots have broken. A licensed crew replaces the panels, the owner picks the theme, and local kids design colored concrete art that sits flush, level and slip resistant.

LA Sidewalks Are Cracked, Dangerous, and Ignored

Thousands of miles of damaged sidewalks across Los Angeles create daily hazards for seniors, people with mobility challenges, and families with strollers. The repair backlog is measured in years, not months.

  • Seniors trip on lifted panels
  • Wheelchairs get stuck
  • Responsibility stuck between property owners and city
  • Damaged panels sit unrepaired for years

From Hazard to Public Art

A simple, community-driven process that turns broken sidewalk panels into lasting neighborhood treasures.

01

Snap a Photo

Residents photograph damaged sidewalk panels through our mobile app, automatically capturing location.

02

Community Votes

The neighborhood votes on which damaged panels matter most. The top-voted panel wins each month.

03

Repair & Create

A licensed crew completes the approved repair. Youth and a teaching artist develop the visual concept; the final treatment follows written City, accessibility, insurance, and site requirements.

04

Celebrate & Share

We document the before and after, celebrate the young artists, and move to the next panel.

Three Groups Win Every Time

Pedestrians & Residents

Safer sidewalks, especially for seniors and people with limited mobility. A single repaired panel removes a tripping hazard that may have existed for years.

Youth Participants

Hands-on public art experience, civic pride, and a visible contribution to their neighborhood. Kids gain skills in design, teamwork, and public collaboration.

Local Businesses

Your customers walk these blocks. Every sponsor dollar fixes the walk to your door, so people can shop, eat and bank with you safely. Sponsors get a thank-you post, an unveiling invite and a window decal, and can nominate the sidewalk in front of their own business.

Colored Concrete Today. Mosaics Tomorrow.

Sidewalk Stories started with a dream of tile mosaics in LA's sidewalks. We are getting there one safe, approved step at a time.

Now

Colored concrete

Flush, slip resistant color set right into the new concrete, so the first sites are fast to approve and safe to walk and roll on.

Next

Mosaics off the walking path

Tile mosaics on private plazas, storefront walls, planters and tree wells with partners who own the space.

The goal

Mosaics underfoot

A tested, accessible mosaic panel approved by the City for public sidewalks, built on a track record of finished sites.

This Is Los Angeles

Every cracked panel here is a chance to make the city safer and more beautiful at the same time. We are starting in Fairfax / Mid-City West, but the model works anywhere neighbors care about their streets.
